1. Who we are

Patent Radar is a product of Drug Landscape Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17116026) with its registered office at PO Box 7169, Poole, BH15 9EL, United Kingdom.

For data protection law, Drug Landscape Ltd is the data controller for the personal information processed through patentradar.ai. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number C1940863.

Questions about how we handle your information go to legal@patentradar.ai.

2. What this notice covers

This notice covers personal information that we collect from people who visit patentradar.ai, sign up for an account, or buy a Monitor, Pro or Firm subscription. It does not cover unrelated services from Drug Landscape Ltd.

3. What we collect and why

We hold the smallest amount of data we need to run the service.

3.1 Account data

  • Your email address (to sign you in by magic link).
  • Your name and organisation, if you choose to provide them.
  • Sign-in events (timestamp, IP address) for security auditing.

Lawful basis: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR) plus our legitimate interest in keeping accounts secure (Article 6(1)(f)).

3.2 Patent and portfolio data

  • Patent numbers, claim text and portfolio metadata that you submit. This is processed to run scans and generate draft claim charts for you.
  • Scan results, candidate hits, and evidence snapshots are stored in your account and shown only to you and people you invite.

Lawful basis: performance of a contract.

3.3 Billing data

  • Subscription tier, status, period dates, and a Stripe customer identifier so we can manage your billing.
  • We never see your card number. Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd, a PCI-DSS compliant processor based in Ireland. See Stripe's privacy notice at stripe.com/gb/privacy.

Lawful basis: performance of a contract and compliance with our legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c), accounting and tax law).

3.4 Analytics

  • If you accept the analytics category in the cookie banner, we use PostHog on EU servers to understand which parts of the product people use. Without your consent, no PostHog data is captured.

Lawful basis:consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

3.5 Support and correspondence

  • If you email us we keep the message so we can respond and so we have a record of what was discussed.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.

4. How long we keep data

  • Account data, for as long as your account is open, and for 12 months after closure.
  • Patent and portfolio data, deleted within 30 days of you closing the account or asking us to remove it.
  • Billing records, six years to meet UK accounting and tax law.
  • Server logs, 90 days.
  • Analytics, held by PostHog on our behalf and deleted on a rolling 12-month basis.

5. Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted processors to run the service:

  • Vercel Inc., application hosting (US, with EU edge).
  • Neon, Inc., managed Postgres database (EU region).
  • Hostinger International Ltd., VPS for the scan pipeline (EU region).
  • Stripe Payments Europe Ltd, payment processing (Ireland).
  • Resend Inc., transactional email (US, processed under SCCs).
  • PostHog Inc., product analytics (EU instance), only if you consent.
  • LLM providers we use to generate claim charts: Groq, Google (Gemini) and Anthropic. We send patent text and candidate text; we do not send your account email. Providers process this on a zero-retention basis where available.

We will only share data with anyone else if we are legally required to (e.g. a court order) or if we are reorganising the business and buyers or successors take on the same obligations.

6. International transfers

Some processors (notably Vercel, Resend, and the US-based LLM providers) are based in the United States. Transfers to them happen under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, and where available, on the basis of the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

7. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you can ask us to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct it; delete it; restrict our processing of it; object to our processing of it; or send it to another provider (data portability). Email legal@patentradar.ai with the request. We respond within one month.

If you think we've mishandled your data you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We'd much rather have the chance to fix it first, though.

8. Security

We use TLS in transit and encryption at rest on the database. Access to production data is limited to the founder, on devices that enforce full-disk encryption and a password manager. Sessions are cryptographically signed and HttpOnly. We log security events and review them.

9. Important note on what Patent Radar does

Patent Radar surfaces evidence about possible infringement of your patents. We sell this evidence to you, the rights holder. We do not contact the alleged infringer and we do not provide legal advice. Whether and how to act on what we surface is a decision for you and your qualified legal counsel.

10. Changes to this notice

When we make changes we will update the "last updated" date above and, where the change is material, email account holders before it takes effect.
